While the first few weeks of the Coronavirus outbreak saw people spending more time at home due to lockdown, most people were good at finding things to keep them busy, or they relished in the fact they could do nothing and not feel guilty about it. However, now that we have settled into this new way of living, restrictions are easing, and we are entering the ‘new normal’.
It is still advised to stay at home if you are at high risk or if you don’t really need to go out, plus the fact that most attractions are still closed means that there isn’t much of a choice for things to do. Therefore boredom is something that is set to continue into the new normal. So, now that you have mastered the art of bread-making, de-cluttered your house and caught up on all those box sets you have been meaning to watch for ages, what can you do now with all that time stuck at home?
Continue Learning
You should never stop learning, and luckily for you there are always going to be things to learn, so whether you have already completed an online course in digital marketing or taught yourself a new language, there is still a higher level you could move onto or a different skill or topic altogether.
Why not learn to knit, learn to crochet, learn to paint or draw. Even if you don’t think you’ll be any good at it, now is the best time to try things out and to see what’s right for you. You might find that you are brilliant at playing the violin, you find it easy and you love it. You’ll never know unless you try.
Play Games
If you’re not a video game fan, then perhaps you just haven’t found the right one - they are not all aimed at teenage boys, and they don’t all involve shooting and violence and aliens!
There are so many video games available now that there is something for everyone. If you like cars, for example, why not go for Madalin Stunt Cars 3 where you can choose one of the 40 coolest cars, set a colour and get ready for the race of your life. If racing is not your thing, there are plenty of sports games, fighting or even Disney adventures that can keep you busy for hours.
Explore Online Virtual Tours
When you’re stuck at home, why not make the most of visiting famous museums without having to leave your sofa? Of course, it will never be as good as the real thing, but at least it can give you an idea of whether you’ll enjoy it if you go in the future so you won’t be wasting your time and money if it’s no good.
You can explore the British Museum in London, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., the Musée d’Orsay, Paris, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, the Pergamon Museum, Berlin, the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam or the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam to name a few.
It could be an excellent way to beat the boredom and a different way to spend the afternoon.
