Today In DOCTOR WHO History: November 17th

How we miss Sarah Jane.

Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. You can click on any red text to read our full retrospectives/reviews for that episode, and note that all viewing figures listed are for UK broadcasts (unless otherwise stated).

November 17th
Today is not the biggest of days in Doctor Who history as we only have one actual Who episode and one spin-off for you. The episode comes from November 17th 1979 and we join the Fourth Doctor just after he has become fully acquainted, a-hem, with The Creature from the Pit, sadly for them both it's now time to break-up the relationship. Parting is such sweet sorrow, and tears were shed as the fourth and final part of the adventure was broadcast at 6:03pm, and watched by 9.6 million viewers viewers.
Spin-Offs
Ah, Sarah Jane. How we miss the wonderful Elisabeth Sladen. Good job we have The Sarah Jane Adventures to look back upon, and episode one of The Temptation Of Sarah Jane was broadcast on this day in 2008 to 1.18 million viewers.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs aired, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
