OK, so this isn't an actual canon episode of Doctor Who but it was based on one so that kinda counts, right?

Back in 1966 the second Peter Cushing Dr Who movie, Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D., was released into cinemas nationwide (after its London premiere occurring on July 22nd that year). Although not as big of a success as the first Cushing Dr. Who movie, it's a more ambitious production and still remains great Sunday afternoon viewing.

And it's got Bernard Cribbins in it too! Can't go wrong there.

On this day in 2011 and we'd reached the halfway stage of the bloated Torchwood: Miracle Day. That is if you were living in the U.S.A. and had premium cable channel Starz. 1.02 million bought marshmallows to the premiere of The Categories of Life. Mmmm, toasty!

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
