Elle presents another installment in her A to Z of Supernatural.
O could be for Occult, it could also be for Officers (of the Law) or Ouija Board, but in my A to Z of Supernatural O is for the mythical land of Oz.
In the Season 9 Supernatural episode, Slumber Party, we learn that as well as being the writer of The Wonderful World of Oz and its sequels L. Frank Baum was also a member of the Men of Letters. He had traveled on a case to the Land of Oz and his daughter Dorothy snuck along with him.
The Land of Oz can be accessed from Earth with a special key. If inserted into any normal door it turns it into an entrance to Oz. It is also possible to enter Oz via a natural disaster, like a
tornadoes, through the eye of a hurricane, or in a whirlpools
Dorothy became trapped in Oz. Whilst there she met up with three freedom fighters and fought the Wicked Witch of the West and her army.
Her friends were later cursed by the Witch and became the Scarecrow, Tin Man
and Cowardly Lion.
During her time in Oz The Tin Man and Dorothy herself both died in battle. Dorothy was resurrected, the Tin Man was not and
so Dorothy kept his head to honor him.
After the Wicked Witch came to Earth, L. Frank Baum wrote The
Wonderful Wizard of Oz books based on the adventure's Dorothy's had had, and also to give her clues on how to fight the Witch.
At the end of Slumber Party, Charlie Bradbury kills the Witch, and along with Dorothy she enters the Land of Oz in a quest to free it from the Wicked Witch's forces.... and to find Dorothy's dog Toto.
